House Renovations, Day 11

Got some priming done in the downstairs hallway, stairway, upstairs hallway, and mudroom today, and started putting up the darker teal in the bathroom

House renovations, Day 10 - Part 2

Got the cupboards painted this afternoon! :D We also got the mudroom walls washed with TSP and they are now ready for the first coat of primer :)

House Renovations, Day 10

We have gotten a lot done today, the top of the kitchen is painted, but the beadboard still needs paint. I also put a coat of primer on the rest of the cupboards and got a coat of primer on the bathroom walls. I've also started working on refinishing/fixing up some treasures we found in the house after we bought it. In the attic we found an old crutch which is going to be repurposed into a towel/wash cloth rack for the bathroom, a large soapbox which is going to be repurposed into fruit container for the kitchen, a produce caddy which is going to be repurposed into a napkin/condiment holder for the kitchen table, and in a cupboard we found an old crock which is going to have the lid repaired and then it will be used for something (haven't figured out what yet, I wanted to use it to make my sauerkraut but I'm thinking it would be best to use it for holding/storing non-edible items as I'm not sure how old it is or if the glaze is safe/suitable for storing food items).

House Renovations, Day 9 - Part 2

We got a ton more work done in the afternoon yesterday, here are some photos of the progress :) Also, we have learned that textured ("heavy stipple" aka stucco) paintable wallpaper *might* help cover the uneven walls in a very old house, but it is SO not worth the effort to paint it! It took FOREVER and a ridiculous amount of paint to make sure that all the nooks and crannies had paint in 'em, next time we're going with smooth/flat paintable wallpaper for sure! NEVER AGAIN with the textured wallpaper! LOL

House Renovations, Day 9

Been working all morning and got the living room painted and guest bedroom #2 painted :) We also ran into our first calamity. Before we closed on the house, the septic collapsed, so the sellers put in a new septic in order for the deal to close. Well, all the sewage from the collapsed septic is now leaking into the well. The water smells like turds. I actually gagged and retched because of the stink of the water.....looks like a new UV filtration system is in our future! HAHAHA

House Renovations, Day 8

Day 7 and 8 weren't as productive as usual because we had some family visiting. But we did get a bunch more stuff primed (including the kitchen cupboards! The doors are currently residing in my parents' garage), and got the first coat of color up in the living room and in Harrison's room :)
